Melodee Roo & The Wantoks Too!
We are jungle wildlife characters who live in the rainforest of Papua, New Guinea. Wantoks means close friends. My friend, Apsy The Cassowary and I know what it’s like to have a family member die. It really stinks. And it hurts a lot.
We’ve had so many different feelings like sadness and anger and feeling scared too. Sometimes Apsy had nightmares. He learned what to do so he wasn’t scared anymore.
Not only that, there were times when we were so discombobulated, worried, and confused about things, that we didn’t know what to do or say. Apsy struggled because of what he had said to his brother before he died. Guilt can be a real bummer. Forgiving himself helped him to feel better.
Because we know how hard it is after a loved one dies, we want to help you. We learned how to cope and we want to share all the things that really helped us.
Besides, that’s what Wantoks do. We stick by you and guide you. Wantoks always understand and we help you to feel loved, accepted and reassured. You are not alone.
